Russell
Hello Patty and FFF Staff and Volunteers,Today is May 19th - and one
month that we've had Russell come to live with us. He is a happy dog
and used to
his new home. Russell has been accepted by Buddy, our Chihuahua, and
Abby and Lucy, our cats who were also shelter adoptees. Some family
members met Russell and feel that Russell is a special and sweet
little old dog who loves and gives affection and deserved to be
adopted.
We took Russell to his Vet appointment and since our regular Vet was
doing emergency surgery, he didn't get to meet
Russell. The other Vet gave Russell a complete exam and considered
him to be in well enough health, considering his age. The Vet also
judged Russell to be older than what is believed. Perhaps even as old
as 16 or 17. Russell follows me and Richard around, and also his new
companion Buddy. He just loves to be walking around in the yard and
sniffing the grass. Russell eats well though he has no teeth so I
make sure that his food is minced very small so that he has no problem
swallowing. The way he cleans his bowl and looks to go after Buddy's
bowl is really funny. He has a tremendous appetite. He knows when
there is food and he follows me around the kitchen whenever any food
is being
prepared.
I have captioned some pictures to tell of his adventures in his new
home. You'll notice that his big adventure is mainly getting to his
food bowl, the water bowl, and especially the bed and other napping
places. He sleeps all through the night on the floor in our bedroom
cuddled in a pile of soft blankets. If Russell could tell you, he
would say that it was meant to be that he come to live with us to have
a forever home. He is so affectionate, loving to be held as he lays
his head against us and is so relaxed... a very happy little guy.
He's entirely deserving of all the love he now has and this will be
the way it will be for the remaining years of his
life. This is a wonderful experience for us to have Russell in our
home. We thank you for taking such good care of Russell. You will be
receiving Russell's own "Happy Tails" in another email and it will
also have more photos. Please put me on your mailing list to receive
your FFF Newsletter. Thanks.Love to all,Russell's Mom, Rosemary
Trixie
Just wanted to let you know that since I adopted Trixie on the 7th of March, she is doing great. There was no transitional problems, it's like she's been here forever.
She is so loving and affectionate. Only thing that I've noticed is that she doesn't meow! She's only started purring today and I was all excited about that. Thanks for everything!

Cassie
Hi guys,
It's me, Cassie! I am adjusting very well, of course I miss everyone at Four Footed Friends a whole bunch. Saturday we went to this kool place with all kinds of puppy goodies; I got a new bed, blanky, toys and other goodies. Sunday I met some of the family, I played in my new play area with several kids for hours... I was soooooo excited. Tomorrow I am going to get my license to walk in the park, it's going to be awesome to see new places 'n new people with my new daddy. I could go on and on but I know you have lots to do, tell everyone my daddy says Hi!
All My Love,
Cass
Lucky
Hello, we just wanted to give you an update
on Lucky aka Tucker. He is doing wonderful! we have kept him so busy running
around with all the snow we have gotten and he loves playing outside in
it! The other day we went sledding and he had a blast. He loves riding
around in the car too. We have been tiring him out with exercise, but
he seems to like it. He loves to take naps and he likes to crawl up in
bed after we fall asleep, despite the very nice doggy couch he has all
to himself! The couch is a favorite too. He has already learned how to sit,
shake, and lay down. We are so impressed!! He loves to be around
people, which is great because we both have big families and lots of
friends that like to come visit and play fetch! We really couldn't have asked for a better dog, and we
both agree that he is a perfect fit in our family. Thanks to everyone at the shelter!

Willie
Happy New Year from Willie Decker & family.
I wanted to let all of my four footed and two footed friends at FFF know how happy I am in my new home. I finally have a Mom and Dad and two brothers that I can call my own. I miss everybody there, but I am very happy with my toys, nice warm water bed, treats and my family.
Mom said that Jesi wrote a very nice article on me and my family for your newsletter. She really enjoyed the write-up and told everybody about it. She said that she hopes some of the other pets there were also able to find nice homes for Christmas.
I must have been a pretty good boy though, because Santa Claus left me even more toys and special treats than I already had. My Grandma (Dads Mom) gave my brothers and me a big bag of "Pig Ears" for Christmas. Mom and Dad tell everyone that I just kept prancing around with mine and hiding it under Mom's desk chair. I still think that it was another toy and Harley finally ended up eating mine too. Thats okay though, because I took one of his toys. I usually hang out in the living room with Mom and lay down by her chair. Dad kept finding my pig ear and giving it back to me and then I would hide it again.
Whenever Mom or Dad go to the bathroom, I follow and sit in front of them so that I get even more attention than I already do. Mom said that I am fair game when I do that and she keeps my brush right there on a shelf where she can reach it. So of course besides the hugs and kisses, I get brushed several times a day too.
My brother Davidson has not been feeling well and has gone to the Dr. several times. Mom says that he has a rare human disease, Hypoparathyroidism and it has been acting up again. So he is a little grumpy and does not feel like playing like before. We all hope that his calcium level gets back to a normal level and that he is back to his old hyper-active self again soon.
My brother Harley still plays with me though and Mom and Dad love all of my attention too.
I have shown Mom and Dad some of my old tricks. I can carry a dog food bowl in my mouth and even run with it, without spilling anything out and I am quick when I do it too. They are amazed by some of my talents.
My Dad was sick for awhile and off of work. Mom said that he had cryrosurgery for prostate cancer that he was recently diagnosed with, but he is back to work now. He moves a bit slower, but they say that it takes time and the cancer is in his pelvic area and bones. He had a hormone implant put in his arm, they say that it slows the cancer progression much better than chemo or radiation treatments.
Everybody says that Dads attitude is great, of course he has always been good to me and he makes Mom laugh alot.
Dad tells everybody that I am a "Little Scrapper". He says that you would be surprised for my size how tuff I am. He also says that I listen to whatever Mom tells me to do, but not for him. I am just a "Ladies Man" or a "Little Love Bug" (as Darlene Graham would say), what else can I say.
I will be getting some pictures taken later. Mom wants some of my brothers and me playing in the snow. She said that she will send all of you pictures when we take them, but first we have to get the snow.
We will keep in touch with all of you.
Love always,
"The Decker"
