hi FFF! I still have Mollie with me and she is adorable. I made a good mistake adopting her instead of her mean sibling. It is going to be 4 years in may that we have had them. I also adopted Hershey from you guys. you may not rember her but she was a rabbit. She died a couple of years back when we got her, but she was adorable. She will never be forgotten.

I wanted to let you know that Waldo is doing great! I was worried about the transition but he started eating and drinking after being here for about 12 hours. He is presently sleeping with my son (he's 3). My kids shower him with attention and he lays there and goes to sleep! He is the perfect addition to our family! I'll be sending pictures soon of him and the kids. Thanks so much. You guys do such wonderful work!!!!!

Hello to everyone at FFF. We just wanted to give you an update on Laila (Makayla) that we adopted from FFF in September 2007. She is such a wonderful blessing to our family. She has since been spayed and has calmed down quite a bit. She enjoys when we have company over, especially children and although she can be hyper at first, she quiets down easily so our company can enjoy her as well. She has learned "sit", "shake", "high-five", "lay-down", and "wait for it". She loves to take us for walks (literally), and our son, Austin and her are great friends. Thanks again for all of your time and the blessing you are to the pet community. FFF are doing a wonderful job, keep up the great work. We will bring Laila in soon to visit everyone. Lots of Thanks, The Edwards

We adopted Roxy in October and can't be happier with her! Everyone was so caring when we came to look at the animals. Misty took so much time with us to help us pick out just the right one for us. Roxy has been a true blessing to us as a member of our family. Happy Holidays to all of the staff and keep up the great work!!

Hi, my name is Miranda, and i'm 17 years old. My mom, Pamm, her boyfriend, Drew, and I had Gunner in our home for about 3 weeks or so and although he was a bit too hyper for our home, we loved him very much and we miss him and we all hope that he's doing well. I would also like to stop by sometime and try to volunteer to help with the animals. I love visiting your site and I would enjoy spending time with your animals!

Message From: Deanna W August 1, 2008
I just wanted to say how happy I am that I found your website. Mufasa has been a great addition to our family. He has adjusted to our home very well, and he even got to play a little today outside. Your facility really impressed me, the kennels were very clean. The animals were well taken care of. And the facility itself was beautiful. I have talked to many of my friends and family members today and have been praising you on how wonderful you all are. If you were closer to my home, I would love to volunteer but an hour drive is quite a way to go for that, but if I'm ever up that way, I'll be sure to stop in.

Hi everyone! This is Bender's mommy. Just wanted to say he is doing great!! We put a fence up in the backyard for him and he just loves to run with his toys. He has been a wonderful addition to our family and has transitioned into home life with no problems. Hope all is well there!

Hi - my parents and I visited your facility in January after we lost our very special german shepherd after 11 years. Although they ended up adopting a dog from the Humane Society instead, I just wanted to say that I was very impressed with your shelter. What a nice facility, and great attitudes of the people working there! The dog's kennels were very clean, and the animals are obviously well-cared for. Thank you! I will be sending you a donation in the near future.. Keep up the good work!

Hello - my wife and I have saved many animals as well from shelters, and I am glad that you are able to be a no-kill shelter. I feel the need to expand on your response to a post on August 13, 2007. On this date a person who was obviously frustrated and probably sadened by the fact that an animal that thye may have helped had to be put to sleep (PTS). This person questioned if you can really be a no-kill shelter if yo have to turn away animals. (read this post along with FFF's response) We have saved 3 dogs from shelters who were marked to be PTS. What occurs that these animals are in this horrible situation? In some cases they where loved pets lost and the family never found them. HOWEVER, in most cases they where abused neglected animals, who wanted to be loved. In many cases people buy a cute puppy and either chain the dog outside or get rid of them because they are too much work, or they lose their cuteness as they grow. The cute birthday or Christmas present is now out lost - cold hungry and lonely. Our Gratitude goes out to the shelters and ALL the people who have time to donate. NO-ONE in the shelter wants to destroy these animals, they are giving up valuable time with their families to care for animals that the general public has neglected. They do all they can to find homes for these pets and when they know an animal is to be PTS, they frantically try to find a way to save the animal. In most case, all these people can do is cry over the lose of yet another life. YES ALL THE BLAME GOES TO THE PUBLIC NOT TO THE SHELTERS - to those of you who neglect, abuse and abandon your pets, to those of you that have no clue what a commitment is, when you buy a puppy, it is your responsibility to train and care for this life, to those of you who allow the animals to breed leaving more excess population that must be sent to loving homes or shelters. Guess what most end up in shelters. Those of you who fit this type of personality you sicken me. If people took care of the animals, we would not have to debate whether a shelter is a no-kill facility or not, however since people and not the animals are the real problem we need animal shelters. It is a blessing that some can be no-kill. I wish I had more room I can only keep 4 dogs before being overburdened.

I have a kitty that has only three legs due to the cruelty of the outside non-loving world. He is my pride and joy and I would do anything to make him happy (as a matter of fact, he is laying on my lap this very second...hehe). I would really like to voluteer, but I would like to know if their are any openings for jobs involving cats before I bug my mom to bring me out. I would really love to help out in any way possible. Not to mention brag about my wonderful kitty...hehe. Well thankyou for any future responses. :]

It's great to see the website running again. Keep up the great work and THANK YOU for everything FFF is doing for the health and welfare of the animals!

I have seen so many stray cats in my area (around Punxsy). Do you do or know of any trap spay/neuter return programs for stray/feral cats? Do you only take in animals from Indiana Co.? Thanks for your time and everything you do! *Webmaster note- yes, unfortunately we can only take in animals from our county at this time. Please email the shelter directly at fff@pghmail.com for more information regarding TNR programs and good luck!

I used to volunteer for you several years ago when I lived in the area. Looking at the new shelter, I can see how much hard work and love went into it! WOW! I will have to stop by when I am back to visit soon!

Please contact me at 814-939-9469 so that I can get some of your business cards to place at my business in Punxsy so that I can help get the word out for your shelter. Thank you!

My husband and I looked for a long time to find a "perfect pet". We came to Four Footed Friends because it was a no kill shelter, which we strongly agree in. We now have 2 beautiful cats, in November we'll have had them for a year. Thank you so much for taking care of these beautiful animals. And thank you so much for making our family that much bigger!!!

Message From: Kathi Elder September 10, 2007
I would like to congratulate everyone involved in getting your new shelter up and running so beautifully. The accommodations are wonderful for both the animals who you care for and human visitors. All of you work so hard to provide for every need of your dogs and cats. Your website is very well thought out and extremely informative. There is a lot going on at Four-Footed Friends. My very best to you, Kathi

This site is great. I plan on stopping by for a visit sometime soon. Looking to adopt a cat, but am going through it in my mind first to make sure its the right time. Also, volunteering sounds like fun! Keep up the great work you all do! I'm glad there are such great shelters out there to help animals.

Message From: curious August 13, 2007
Question? How can you be a no kill shelter if you turn animals away and send them to low kill shelters? Do you live in the real world? PLEASE RESPOND ON YOUR WEB SITE.

**FFF Response: There are currently 20 dogs and nearly 50 cats in the care of Four Footed Friends; a fraction the hundreds we can help save each year. Where would these animals be without a shelter to take them in? We can't take in ALL animals, as much as we'd hope to, and euthanasia isn't in our shelter's policy though it's a "necessary evil" in our society. Would it be more desirable to not have a shelter at all, and have hundreds more animals each year end up at the door of shelters who must euthanize for space? Each shelter type has its place in the community, none is perfect. The problem isn't shelters who turn animals away or shelters who put animals to sleep. It's individuals who do not spay or neuter their pets and whose puppies and kittens take potential homes away from the animals waiting in shelters.

Our cat that we adopted from FFF and could not keep is now available for adoption at the Indiana County Humane Society. FFF refused to take the cat back and we had no other choice but to find a caring shelter to take it in. Thanks for nothing !!!

FFF Response: Being a limited admission shelter means sometimes we have to wait until we have room for animals, and recently our cats have been quarantined due to a heavy incidence of upper respiratory, contagious skin infections and conjunctivitis during kitten season. There are no places to quarantine new cats to keep them safe and it hardly seems fair to bring a healthy adult in to risk infection. The contract that you signed states very clearly that should you need to return your pet, you must allow 2 weeks for the shelter to make room. After two weeks from contacting us, the cat would have been accepted into FFF without question.

You have created a great web page to go along with the great shelter. I feel so privileged to be one of your many volunteers. Wish I could spend more time there. But please know that I am available to help if you have any special needs. Keep up the great work. The animals love you!
